How many of you love a good chick-flick movie or TV show? I’m sure as soon as I asked that question, you had all your favorites listed in your head, and even before the actual movie came to mind, you thought of the main attraction, the guy the girl fell in love with. He’s good-looking, and his smile literally makes you smile when he’s on the screen. We all hope the dialogue will be said to us one day. My favorites are Anne of Green Gables and Pride and Prejudice. All of these have a common factor: the girl is strong-spirited, has a mind of her own, and doesn’t like the stereotype romance or fall-in-love stories. But what I love about each one of these stories even more is how the guy takes that challenge and stands for one thing, and that’s falling in love with her despite the moments of stubbornness!
Now, these can be considered older movies, but something authors made so beautiful in these books that were turned into shows is how the guys always have one person in mind, even if the girl doesn’t see it right away. He pursues but doesn’t pursue and slowly begins to show his true characteristics, which begins to show his golden heart.
I believe that God has someone out there who will fit exactly what I need and desire in a future husband. I can imagine him because of my experiences with guys in my life, even though I have never dated. For example, from both shows, I want a man who is kind but also challenges me, like Gilbert Blyth. Mr. Darcy is loyal and has a side of him that most people don’t understand, but when he cares for someone, he is unstirred and pursues without ceasing. Now, these are books/movie characters, but I can say that even men in my own life show attributes I desire to have, and I think God has installed those traits in my mind because He knows who I need one day.
This someone who will care for me in the simplest and deepest moments. He will support me in my physically strong and weakest moments, and he will not only love my imperfections but embrace them with me and love every part of them with me. His heart will be a heart of gold to me because God created him with me in mind, and when we walk/wheel side by side, it will be the most beautiful and natural feeling that won’t have to be processed or thought of. Our dates will be different from the average couple, but they will be so special.
These dreams are golden in my mind, and I can’t wait to see who he is. So, to my girls out there who are dreaming of this golden-hearted someone, know that God sees our needs and desires. He cares, and what I’m learning in this season is that although he’s not here yet, I can continue to pray for his golden heart.
