Braver Than You Believe

in Heartfelt Writings on 11/06/24

When I was little, one of my favorite Disney shows was Winnie the Pooh. To this day, his voice makes me smile, and one little quote from Pooh and Christopher Robin has stuck with me.

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

  • Winnie the Pooh

These words of affirmation are so simple and speak so much truth that they have stuck with me as a young woman. I think this little quote is something God wants to encourage us with every day, especially when we are in doubt in spirit, mind, and body. Our Bible gives us so many people’s journeys when they also felt less than called to what God had asked of them, but in every story, God called them, even if it didn’t start or end the way they planned. It didn’t matter where they were in life. It didn’t matter what wrong they had done. And it didn’t matter if they were born able or disabled; He still used them.

Esther, you are braver than you believe. Ruth, you are stronger than you seem. Like Mary, the woman who followed Jesus with the disciples was smarter than she probably felt around the Messiah, and yet He still wanted her to follow Him. And it ended up being the smartest choice she could have ever made, even though society said it was uncommon.

I know in my own story that I hadn’t felt brave, strong, or smart in areas of life, especially when it came to being around other women of God, and sometimes I was so intimidated that I missed out on opportunities that could have helped me grow. The enemy gets in the way of our calling because if he can make us believe that we are not brave enough to speak out or if we are not physically or mentally strong enough to go after what our dreams and ambitions are, then he has crippled us more than our bodies ever could. How do we respond and fight back these doubts? We take back what the enemy tries to use for harm. Speak it out loud in prayer as if we are face to face with our enemy.

I am Brave.

I am Strong.

I am Smart.

I will try and make mistakes, but Jesus still chooses me. He has chosen me because He trusts me and loves me. I will rise up and choose to be brave in the midst of darkness. In my weakness, He makes me strong, and with Him giving me strength, I will not fail. He has given me the intelligence to push towards my ambitions, and when I make my goal, He will challenge me with new ones to continue my learning because my God is a faithful teacher.

Of the three brave, strong, and smart, which one do you need to ask God to give you more faith in? Have you allowed the enemy to lie, saying you are not enough? Begin declaring out loud who God calls you to be, and do not let the enemy whisper those doubts again!

Sometimes we feel like we are the last ones to get somewhere or to see growth in our lives, but are you seeing the beauty in the season of growth? “Every Flower Must Grow Through Dirt.” (Laurie Jean Sennett)
Don’t just see my legs not running;⠀ Don’t j Don’t just see my legs not running;⠀
Don’t just see my hands not writing;
Don’t just see my mouth not talking;⠀
these broken pieces are not me.⠀

See instead the loving soul;⠀

Find Joy in the Ordinary. Find Joy in the Ordinary.
Late Bloomers... ⠀ The average flower takes abou Late Bloomers...
⠀
The average flower takes about seven weeks to propagate from a seed to a sprout, and then into an actual flower and I addition to that it takes about another two weeks for it to bloom to actually become alive and produce a pedal and show its full beauty. So depending on how it takes about nine weeks to fully show all of the colors and fragrances to us, and that would be around two months! And we think that waiting a week is a long time to see things in our life change. ⠀
⠀
Each stage and season of life comes with it’s long and challenging stages, but let’s not forget that the slow and steady make it longer across the race of life. When you feel like you are not moving on where you have been stuck in the same place try these three things and reflect on how it has changed your perspective. ⠀

Change Your Growth Pattern⠀

To Be Continued...
Spring is here and the fields are turning green an Spring is here and the fields are turning green and flowers are beginning to bud. But this year it feels so much more rich and magical especially after last year... but how many of us feel like it’s taken forever to get here? ⠀
⠀
Sometimes we feel in our lives that we are “late to bloom” and we feel like everyone’s life is springing forward but ours. ⠀
⠀
What’s taking so long? ⠀
To be continued... ⠀

What does a New Year mean to you? Is it a sign of What does a New Year mean to you? Is it a sign of relief because you’ve finished that one thing or is it a deep breath because you don’t know what’s next now that you’ve finished?
It’s October... 🍂⠀ When I turn my calendar It’s October... 🍂⠀
When I turn my calendar to October first I immediately begin to look more closely at God’s creation. The evenings turn into dark sparkly nights, the air feels crisp and has a hint of chill, and my favorite part is the leaves changing into enchanting colors of orange, yellow, and purple.⠀
⠀
I’ve been Captivated by His beauty. ⠀
⠀
God wants to captivate us when we spend time with Him and in our daily routine. As seasons in our lives change He wants to captivate those moments to show us something we could not see or notice on our own. ⠀
⠀
What captivates you? ⠀
⠀
Looking at the autumn leaves has me reflect and realize that God makes beauty out of ashes, and that when we see something transitioning (falling away) we can remember that although it was for a season that God will captivate our hearts again. ⠀

• Three Continuous Circling Questions⠀
⠀
We all are on a journey, but what is guiding you? ⠀
What do you carry and bring with you?⠀
When you think of what’s next do you question that path your on?⠀
⠀
All these questions are very real right now in this unknown season, but all these questions need to lead back to one person. Jesus is with you, for you, and will always be beside you. Now, it’s our turn to trust in the path He has placed us on. Do you trust Him when you cannot see?
