Coffee – A Metaphor

in Heartfelt Writings on 07/13/21

Going to a coffee shop and ordering coffee is like picking your own personal magic show. From the simple pleasures of black and lattes to the sweeter and stronger flavors of mochas and cappuccinos. And for my fancy coffee drinkers the Pour overs and Siphon you have the taste buds I was not gifted in, but are needed in this world to pick those specific beans and nodes of blah, blah, blah, (That’s my brothers orders I don’t know all of it) Either way your gifted in your own way!

For some people their life appears to be as easy as drinking black coffee. They can pick the drip of the day, place the order to-go, add to taste, and walk out with a dream ready to go. Wow! (Not Me) It can seem so polished and too easy, but it does take time and a tuned ear to be able to discern what God is calling you to do. I truly respect and appreciate those who can pick up and go, but I can’t even comprehend the pace they go to do all those things based on something so known to them.

If your like me I can be complicated with my order. Sometimes I like a good old fashion vanilla latte breve or to mix it up a white mocha breve with two stevia. (Yes, I like my coffee sweet) But it is much like my life these days I’m finding out because I am constantly changing what I put in my coffee. The coffee I pick has specific details and flavors I like that were built by trying different things each time I go.

My dreams take a lot of extra details sometimes I add them other times God adds them for a little extra sweetness, because He knows me well. The dreams I begin with my not be my order in the future. The coffee may taste more bitter to me at one place but sweet in another but that’s because each place you visit does it differently. That’s sometimes our life because God wants to challenge us in differently places. Yes, comparing God’s dreams to coffee seems silly, but if we always go to the same place, (comfort zone)  order the same drink, (dream) and only do sweetener (sugar) we don’t get to experience the natural beans and nods that God added himself for us to experience and use in life.

There are all different kind of dreamers and some would use different words like passions, visions, accomplishments that we would like to go on. All those are God given and He wants you to go after those because in your life God is going to use those to reach others. But something I am still learning today is that if we rush the process and don’t press into God daily for wisdom then we are living a dream that one day will fade. We were never made to walk this alone. My journey two year ago was for a purpose and that was to draw near to God and to be put back on a path that He intended for me to go on. I learned from a dark place that tasted like bitter coffee to me, but with time and His presents He tuned my taste buds to learn from that bitter place and He is turning it into a bitter-sweet place that I can write from.

Whatever place your in right now He knows the temperature of your heart. We all “know” what temperature we would call ourselves but if God could pick He wants us to be hot in pursuit of the things He calls you to do. To do the necessary steps to get to where you desire-dream to reach. Being lukewarm could mean that you are settling or that you have waited or been staying on one cup (dream) for too long and its time for a refill.

Notice that I say refill not reheat.

You can try and microwave your coffee but it won’t stay warm or have the same flavor. In order to get new revelation or to be refreshed you must refill your cup. That means you might have to brew a new pot (new dream) that may mean waiting for it to brew. (waiting season) but through it all God is refilling your spirit and renewing what maybe you put in the past for too long. Starting over sometimes feels like failure but, I can promise you that its better to start over then to drink from an empty cup.

Can I simply say what a relief to uncover someone who really understands what they are discussing on the internet. You certainly know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people ought to look at this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe you arent more popular since you certainly have the gift.

Sometimes we feel like we are the last ones to get somewhere or to see growth in our lives, but are you seeing the beauty in the season of growth? “Every Flower Must Grow Through Dirt.” (Laurie Jean Sennett)

Find Joy in the Ordinary. Find Joy in the Ordinary.
Late Bloomers... ⠀ The average flower takes abou Late Bloomers...
⠀
The average flower takes about seven weeks to propagate from a seed to a sprout, and then into an actual flower and I addition to that it takes about another two weeks for it to bloom to actually become alive and produce a pedal and show its full beauty. So depending on how it takes about nine weeks to fully show all of the colors and fragrances to us, and that would be around two months! And we think that waiting a week is a long time to see things in our life change. ⠀
⠀
Each stage and season of life comes with it’s long and challenging stages, but let’s not forget that the slow and steady make it longer across the race of life. When you feel like you are not moving on where you have been stuck in the same place try these three things and reflect on how it has changed your perspective. ⠀

Spring is here and the fields are turning green an Spring is here and the fields are turning green and flowers are beginning to bud. But this year it feels so much more rich and magical especially after last year... but how many of us feel like it’s taken forever to get here? ⠀
⠀
Sometimes we feel in our lives that we are “late to bloom” and we feel like everyone’s life is springing forward but ours. ⠀

What’s taking so long? ⠀

It’s October... 🍂⠀ When I turn my calendar It’s October... 🍂⠀
When I turn my calendar to October first I immediately begin to look more closely at God’s creation. The evenings turn into dark sparkly nights, the air feels crisp and has a hint of chill, and my favorite part is the leaves changing into enchanting colors of orange, yellow, and purple.⠀
⠀
I’ve been Captivated by His beauty. ⠀
⠀
God wants to captivate us when we spend time with Him and in our daily routine. As seasons in our lives change He wants to captivate those moments to show us something we could not see or notice on our own. ⠀
⠀
What captivates you? ⠀
⠀
Looking at the autumn leaves has me reflect and realize that God makes beauty out of ashes, and that when we see something transitioning (falling away) we can remember that although it was for a season that God will captivate our hearts again. ⠀

• Three Continuous Circling Questions⠀
⠀
We all are on a journey, but what is guiding you? ⠀
What do you carry and bring with you?⠀
When you think of what’s next do you question that path your on?⠀
⠀
All these questions are very real right now in this unknown season, but all these questions need to lead back to one person. Jesus is with you, for you, and will always be beside you. Now, it’s our turn to trust in the path He has placed us on. Do you trust Him when you cannot see?
